Hrid - Behold The Lord's Barbaricvm

Artist: Hrid
Label: Self-released (Distributed by Triumph Of Death)
Limitation: 100 Hand-numbered Copies
Country: Croatia
Genre: Black Metal
Year: 2012

Hrid's debut demo is fifteen minutes of pure Croatian occult fury conjured in praise of Him. This is no frills, cathartic, cave-dwelling orthodox black metal spawned in the old, true way. Definitely a band to watch for and one of the more satisfying debut's I've heard in some time. Featuring members of Celephais.

Ordrhein - Atavism

Artist: Ordrhein
Album: Atavism
Limitation: 100 Copies
Country: US
Genre: Raw Black Metal
Year: 2013

When a US horde ends up releasing their demo on the same elite Portuguese label as such worshipful acts as Mons Veneris, Vetala and Forbidden Citadel Of Spirits, you know they must be something special. Highly recommended as one of the shining lights of the modern American underground featuring members of New York's enigmatic Castle Of Purity.

Gorgoroth - Pentagram

Artist: Gorgoroth
Album: Pentagram
Label: Unknown Label (Bootleg Cassette)
Limitation: Unknown
Country: Norway
Genre: 2nd-Wave Black Metal Classic
Year: 1994

Found this little bootleg cassette on Ebay for super cheap. I'm sure anyone who's acquainted with my humble blog has more than a passing familiarity with this classic record. And while Gorgoroth may not have aged very well as a band in general, this album is, in my opinion, up there with the De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas' and the Filosofem's of the world. Not the least reason of which is Hat's vocal performance, which blows Gaahl's pretentious histrionics out of the water any day of the week. I shouldn't have to mention to anyone that this time-honored album is absolutely and totally essential.

Funerary Bell - Horrific TransCosmic Overture

Artist: Funerary Bell
Label: Self-released
Limitation: Unknown
Country: Finland
Genre: Black Metal
Year: 2013

Finnish black metal has a long, proud history of being some of the most depraved, violent and all around fucked-up music on this sad little planet of ours. Funerary Bell has been part of that illustrious tradition since 2007, and with each release they sharpen their knives a little more.

Deletere - Sacrificium Necrothytum

Artist: Deletere
Label: Les Productions Heretiques (HER-031)
Limitation: 100 Copies
Country: Canada
Genre: Black Metal
Year: 2013

Originally released exclusively at Quebec's monumentally awe-inspiring Messe De Morts festival, Deletere's new album is now available for purchase over at the mighty Les Productions Heretiques imprint in a limited edition of one hundred cassettes. As with any LPH release, this comes with Clothbodies' highest recommendation.

LVTHN - Adversarialism

Artist: LVTHN
Label: Self-released
Limitation: 100 Hand-numbered Copies
Country: Belgium
Genre: Black Metal
Year: 2013

This two track demo appeared late last  year courtesy of the heretofore unknown Belgian entity LVTHN and sold out almost as quick as it's eleven minute run-time. Stately, well composed and heavy as hell orthodox black metal that's definitely a few cuts above average demo material. Hopefully a taste of what's to come.

***UPDATE*** Vinyl repress forthcoming from the mighty Fallen Empire.

Torrid Husk - Mingo

Artist: Torrid Husk
Album: Mingo
Limitation: Unknown
Country: US
Genre: Progressive Black Metal
Year: 2013

The debut full-length of progressive and melodic USBM from this West Virginia horde was one of the more pleasant surprises of last year. This one floated under a lot of people's radar who I think would have really enjoyed it - don't make the same mistake. Mastered specifically for analog so you know its sounds good.

Hermodr - Vinter

Artist: Hermodr
Album: Vinter
Label: Schattenkult Produktionen (SKP-053)
Limitation: 100 Hand-numbered Copies
Country: Sweden
Genre: Black Metal
Year: 2014

Melancholic, cavernous and highly melodic Burzum-worship done right. This is definitely a step up from Hermodr's 2012 debut demo on Fallen Empire - Sole member, Rafn, has mastered his craft here. Recommended.
